rules

  • There are two days to the festival on which the artists paint their models. Each day has a different theme and both days will be judged separately and the marks added together.

  • The judges will be looking for idea and originality, interpretation of theme, exactness, choice of colours, difficulty of realisation and quality of brush work. Stencils may be used in moderation but must not cover more that 25% of body. The judges will be looking for freehand artistic ability.

  • The models will be judged without the artist present. The model may give a short interpretation of the painting or have the artist present a written summary to the judges.

  • The artists are requested to present themselves and their models in the photo shooting area before and after the judging to allow the photographers and reporters to get the works of art on film.

  • Wigs, hats and decorative head gear may be used to enhance the painting but the use of any kind of prosthetic is not permitted. Also the use of anything resting anywhere but on the head is not permitted.

  • The artist may have one assistant.

  • The artists can paint more than one model within the current rules of time and help.

  • All under age artists are to be accompanied by guardian or parent.

  • Adjudicators will visit throughout the day.

  • After judging the models will make their way to the photo shoot area for photographers and the media to take photos.

  • All artists and models will present their models on stage in the afternoon.

  • On the final day all models will stay painted for the presentation and photographs.

  • Points will be deducted for not adhering to the rules.
