Claudi, who is also responsible for maintaining and updating our website, joined the crew of Body Painters who painted some bikers for the World Naked Bide Ride, also known as WNBR. It was a fun day out with lots of crazy, lovely people. It was not allowed to take any pictures in the body painting area to save the rights of the bikers but you will find some pictures from the ride on the right side.

The ride is a peaceful, imaginative and fun protest against oil dependency and car culture and takes place in different cities across the UK and abroad. More info about the ride HERE.

26 April 2008 - SHEPWAY ARTS DEVELOPMENT FUN DAY

On Saturday 26 April 2008, Shepway Arts Development held a community fun day in Folkestone Town Centre. The British Body Painting Guild was delighted to be asked to promote the UK Body Painting Festival 2008 at this event. We could not find a model for the day but at the final hour Derek from Wingham stepped in and kindly allowed himself to be dressed in paint - shirt and waistcoat - thank you Derek. There was a lot of interest in Derek being painted and the transformation it afforded. Leaflets were handed out for the UK Body Painting Festival that is to be held 30 and 31 August this year in Mersham, Ashford.

Jax (jax@jax.org.uk) was busy promoting face painting and as part of the British Body Painting Guild her work showed the side of body painting that most children love, judging by the never ending queue she had.

Artist and judge for the UK Body Painting Festival, Phyllis McDowell, brought along her easel to paint the community at leisure and to promote the Arts in Shepway.

With musicians, dancers and a magician this was a real fun day for all involved. There were several photographers covering the event for local newspapers and Shepway television.

13 December 2007 - EXHIBITION AT CIVIC CENTRE FOLKESTONE

On December 13th 2007 an Exhibition of Body Painting was held in the Members Foyer of the Folkestone Civic Centre. The body paintings are by local artists who are members of the newly founded British Body Painting Guild. The Exhibition is intended to support the second UK Body Painting Festival which will take place on 30th and 31st August 2008 at Mersham in Ashford, Kent.

A demonstration of body painting was given by Jax and Ann Eatwell and our own Josh Fleet kindly volunteered to be the model.

Councillor William Richardson kindly introduced the Guild and paintings and everyone was invited to 'paint the model'.
